置いておくだけ、水出しアイスコーヒー

Just leave it and cold brew iced coffee.

Spring has arrived and it's getting a little warmer. Many people are probably finding themselves wanting cold drinks in addition to hot ones, right? By the way, have you noticed coffee called "cold brew" or "cold drip coffee" recently? What's the difference from regular iced coffee? Can you brew it at home? This time, we'll introduce you to cold brew iced coffee!

What is Cold Brew Coffee?

Cold brew coffee, as the name suggests, is coffee extracted with cold water instead of hot water. By extracting it slowly at a low temperature over a long period, you can bring out the true deliciousness of coffee with less bitterness! Cold brew coffee has been gaining particular attention recently, and there are now more bottled coffees emphasizing "cold brew." Furthermore, nitro coffee, which is cold brew coffee infused with nitrogen gas using a dedicated machine similar to a beer server, has also been increasing recently. Nitro coffee, characterized by its creamy foam, is expected to attract even more attention in the future! ナイトロコーヒー

How to Make Cold Brew Coffee

Making cold brew coffee isn't too difficult if you have the right equipment.
There are two main methods for cold brewing:
Drip Method
Immersion Method
These are the two methods.

Drip Method

This method involves slowly extracting coffee by dripping water onto coffee grounds. The cold brew iced coffee served at Base Coffee is also extracted using a drip method device. While the amount of grounds varies by device, they are all very easy to use. 1. Set the grounds in the device and moisten them slightly. 2. Fill the tank with water and set it over the grounds. 3. Wait for the extraction to finish. That's it! Since you just set it up, there's no need to worry about the taste changing depending on who brews it. The drip method usually takes about 3 to 5 hours, which is shorter than the immersion method. 水出しコーヒー

Immersion Method

This method involves steeping coffee grounds in water for a period of time. Immersion devices can also be used to cold brew tea in the same way, making them very convenient for those who enjoy both coffee and tea. 浸漬式 This method is also very easy to use: 1. Set the coffee grounds. 2. Add water. 3. Leave it in the refrigerator for a while. The steeping time is usually about 8 hours. It doesn't take much effort, so if you quickly set up the coffee and water before bed, you can enjoy delicious cold brew coffee in the morning! Immersion tends to result in a cleaner-tasting coffee than the drip method.

Making Cold Brew Coffee with What You Have at Home

"I can't make cold brew coffee at home because I don't have special equipment..." If you're thinking that, then here's some good news. Actually, you can make cold brew coffee without special equipment. It's easy to make with things you have at home or can easily get, so I'll introduce a few methods.

Using Tea Bags

You can easily make cold brew coffee using tea bags, which are readily available at supermarkets. The method is very simple. 1. Put medium-ground coffee into a tea bag. 2. Place the tea bag in a container and pour water over it. 3. Leave it in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours. 4. Remove the tea bag. お茶パック The basic coffee to water ratio is about 1:10. For 100g of coffee, about 1 liter of water will make delicious coffee.

Using a French Press

I'm sure some of you reading this column own a French press. The coffee to water ratio is also 1:10, so if you want to brew a lot, you'd need a very large one, which can be quite difficult. However, you can also make cold brew coffee with a French press, so I'll introduce that method. 1. Put medium-ground coffee into the press. 2. Add water to the press. 3. Level the surface, put on the lid, and place it in the refrigerator. 4. Leave it for 7-8 hours. 5. Press the plunger down. 6. Strain the coffee using a tea strainer or paper filter. Using a French press would require a considerably large one, so personally, I recommend the tea bag method. As it gets warmer and hotter from now on, why not enjoy the refreshing taste of cold brew coffee?
