New Blend Development: The New Beans Have Arrived!
分享
I'm Martin, a staff member!
At Base Coffee, I'm currently leading the development of a new blend, with help from those around me.
On this blog page, I'll be chronicling the journey until the new blend is complete.
I hope you'll let your imagination run wild through this page, wondering what kind of flavor it will have, and what kind of feelings are put into it. As for the taste, that'll be a treat when it's finished and actually appears in stores!
New Coffee Beans Have Arrived
New Rwandan beans for the blend have arrived at Base Coffee!
It's the familiar coffee from David of Huye Mountain at Base Coffee!
We value our connections with coffee producers, and we want many people to enjoy Huye Mountain coffee, which is so special to Base Coffee, in a different way. With that in mind, we launched a new blend coffee creation project incorporating these Rwandan beans!
The Concept for the New Blend: "Your Companion at Work"
To create the blend, we first decided on a concept...
Currently, BASE COFFEE offers a variety of blended beans, including the Base Blend, which you'll never tire of drinking, the Morning Blend, perfect for the morning, and the Dessert Blend, which pairs wonderfully with sweets.
A coffee that leverages the characteristics of African coffee, yet doesn't overlap too much with existing offerings...
Deciding on the concept was not straightforward.
There's already the Rock Blend for a relaxing break, which offers a comforting aftertaste, and suitable coffees for every imaginable scenario. It felt almost unnecessary to create something new, and I couldn't find "the one"...
As I pondered, coffee in hand, staring at BASE COFFEE's blend list, my gaze fell upon the coffee in my mug. "Ah, it might be nice to have a coffee for situations like this," I thought, and decided on the concept...
A coffee that's easy to drink and helps you focus, something you can casually enjoy as a companion for studying or desk work.
The Flavor Image: Sweet and Fruity
When creating a blend, we set a target flavor image and goal for the finished product.
Since we're using African beans, which no other blend has, there's no way we can't highlight them!
We're aiming for a coffee that offers the fruity sweetness common in African coffees, is easy to drink in large gulps even while working, and is well-balanced.
I want to create a coffee that you unconsciously reach for while working, and that enhances your concentration!
If I were to wish for more, I'm imagining that if we could add a spice-like aftertaste to the sweetness, something not commonly found in other blends, it could be an interesting coffee that energizes you during work...
My imagination is running wild, but there's a lot we won't know until we roast and taste it, so I want to get closer to this image through trial and error!
First, I'll confirm the taste and characteristics of the coffee, then after roasting them individually, I'll examine the combinations and ratios through after-mixing!
