On April 26, 2021, we opened Base Coffee Central Park in the Central Park underground mall in Sakae.
We are still running at full capacity, doing our best even though there is no end in sight for the new virus.
Ideally, we would have liked to set up a large table with ample seating, but for this store, we installed partitions at each seat to ensure thorough infection control measures.
Our hope is that cafes will be a place where people can interact, where people who happen to be sitting next to each other can strike up a conversation, or where people who met at a seminar can become closer.
Cafes, we hope, will be the origin of human interaction.
However, currently, while not quite a complete separation, we are being asked to exercise self-restraint and take preventative measures.
It's easy to keep complaining, but we believe that to explore what a new form of cafe interaction looks like, we must take action.
Safety and security are important, and interaction is equally important for a cafe.
Although we don't have a clear solution yet, we believe that by repeatedly experimenting as we continue to operate cafes, something might become clear.
Ichinomiya and Kakuozan are residential areas.
Kakuozan, Misono-dori, and Central Park are near stations.
Misono-dori is a business location.
Central Park is a business location, but on weekends, it's a multi-purpose facility, and it's also an underground shopping area.
We will observe the trends of various locations and strive to find the optimal solutions.
